Career Overview

After a degree in Biochemistry (Bristol) and a PhD in Pharmacology (Cantab), I was working mostly in biomedical fields. However, my love of Natural History and non-human animals was never going to keep me away from combining my skills and interests at some point. I have been lucky enough to work in various countries around Europe and my current focus is on using biochemistry to answer ecological questions and to bring the "joy" of biochemistry and pharmacology to those who may shy away from those subjects. I remain an avid Natural Historian with interests that span all five kingdoms of life and even better if there is some cool biochemistry involved (as inevitably, there always is!).
